Introducing Maureen Nightingale
Maureen initially trained as a Yoga Teacher with the Irish Yoga Association and qualified in 1994. She went on to do further training at the Yoga for Health Foundation, Ickwell Bury, Bedfordshire and received her Certificate for Remedial Yoga in 1996.
In 1998, she then trained with the Yoga Therapy and Training Centre, Newry, Co. Down and completed two Short Intensive Courses on the treatment and management (through yoga) of Back Pain, Arthritis and Rheumatism. Certificates for these Courses have been awarded by the Yoga Biomedical Trust, London.
She then went on to complete an Advanced Teacher Training programme, again in the Yoga Therapy and Training Centre. This training course was of one year’s duration and Maureen received her Certificate in June 1999.
Maureen is a fully qualified Reflexologist – having completed a 12 month training course with a recognised Reflexology School. She has also done an Enneagram Self Development Course and a Course in the Metamorphic Technique.
Maureen has been actively involved in Committee work for both the Irish Reflexologists Institute and the Irish Yoga Association. She served as both the Schools Secretary and the General Secretary of the Irish Reflexologists for five years. She was the Secretary of the Irish Yoga Association for three years and President of the Irish Yoga Association for two years.
She is the current Chairperson of Yoga Therapy Ireland and together with her four founder colleagues, has been actively involved in promoting yoga as both a therapy and a profession. She is also the current Chairperson of the Yoga Federation of Ireland – the united umbrella group for Yoga nationwide.
She has completed a Training Course, organised by the National University of Ireland, Maynooth. This course offered intensive, certified training recognised by both NUI Maynooth and FAS to those who wish to train teachers in the adult education sector. She received her qualification in January 2001 and achieved First Class Honours. Maureen works in the capacity of Monitor for the Teacher Training and Post Graduate courses.
